Duties and responsibilities:
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Duties and responsibilities:
1) Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control generating operations in conventional or nuclear power electric generating plant: Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
2) Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters.
3) Traces out and tests electronic solid state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
4) Removes defective instruments from system, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using handtools.
5) Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using handtools.
6) Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.
7) Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
8) Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
9) Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
10) May be designated according to type power plant as Nuclear-Plant-Instrument Technician; Instrument Repairer, Steam Plant.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Performs installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of heating, mechanical, electrical to include pumps, fans, and compressors.
- Sets up rigging required to set pumps/fans.
- Utilizes precision instruments to insure proper belts, chains, coupling, bearings, and other drive components.
- Performs critical preventive and repair maintenance, lubrication and inspections.
- Replaces and adjusts packing and seals.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance on specialty equipment such as heat wheels. Sizes pumps and fans based on system parameters and pump/fan curves. Reads blueprints, works from specification and follows instructions both written and oral. Cleans, sharpens, and adjusts tools as required. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Lifts, pushes, and pulls 50 pounds. Perform related duties as assigned.

PPS is seeking a Generator Services Generator Specialist. The Generator Services Specialist is responsible for responding and overseeing generator internal components such as stator windings, cores, bushings and other related electrical components.

  • Direct on-site repairs

  • Track job schedule
  • Oversee manpower and quality of work being performed
  • Interface with customer & Alstom Personnel
  • Track parts and materials necessary to complete project.
  • Interface with engineering.
  • Prepare on-site work scope and perform repairs
  • Provide technical direction for generator work being performed.
  • Ensure internal & external customer satisfaction
  • Prepare and provide proper documentation of site work
  • Troubleshoot Stator and Rotor Problems
  • Collect and maintain field documents
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in dealing with customers, subordinates, peers, supervisors     and other Alstom entities, including direct customer communication
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of Mechanical or Generator experience, or Generator Specialist certification
  • A special combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years experience in the Power Industry servicing turbines and/or generators
  • Excellent knowledge of all materials and epoxies used in complete stator and field rewinds
  • Demonstrable knowledge of induction brazing and torch brazing
  • Skilled to operate band saw, chop saws, grinders, sanders
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and Driver’s License
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to complete full stator, and field rewinds
  • Good time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications provided by engineering department
  • Ability to complete all blocking and ties required for stator and field rewinds
  • Capable of welding and brazing connections in stator or field winding
  • Must be able to perform Generator testing Megger, DLRO, Hi-Potential Testing, Elcid and other various types of tests
  • Strong organization and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work non-standard schedules at any location with possible varying environmental conditions required
  • Must be able to manage company and personal expenses as required
  • Ability to travel to assignments domestically and internationally with short notice
  • Ability to manage and maintain electronic communication with office while home or on site assignment
  • A self-starter who can operate with minimal instruction
  • Must be a team player

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision,
- Good knowledge on GE controllers Mark V, VI and VIe. Ovation Controller Systems.
- Customer Service Oriented. Good communication skill

Steam Turbine Engineer

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will focus on steam turbine maintenance. Responsibilities include applying thorough knowledge and advanced technical expertise to the inspection and maintenance of steam turbine-generator sets in support of Operations and Maintenance across the company’s fleet and subsidiaries. Will provide technical support consisting of diagnostic analysis, long-term maintenance planning, resource development, documentation, as well as overhaul maintenance coordination. Position requires extensive interfacing with many departments, plants, and OEMs. This position’s responsibilities are generally 50% in technical support, 30% in Outage Support, and 20% in maintaining fleet wide programs and processes.

OEM (Like Westinghouse, MHI, GE, Siemens) Steam Turbine Field service (outage/overhaul) experience is highly desired.

Education: BS degree in Engineering or Science is desired, but not required if enough experience is there.

Travel within the region is required and may require some national travel.
